guitar-owner-101-class

A hands-on introduction to understanding and caring for your guitar. We walk through every part of the guitar and what it does, how tuning stability works, and the basics of cleaning and daily care. You’ll learn how to identify action issues, buzzing, and when you actually need a setup - plus the big “what NOT to do” beginner mistakes that can damage instruments. We also cover string gauges, choosing the right strings, and a demo of proper restringing so you know what to expect.

Perfect for new players and parent–child pairs who want confidence with the fundamentals.

Adult supervision required for minors.

luthier-workbench

This offering is for players who want to be part of the process: installing new parts, learning how a specific component works, or tackling a custom idea with expert guidance. Bring your project and we’ll walk through it together step-by-step in the shop.

Project examples include: electronics upgrades/mods, partscaster assembly builds, bridge/tuner upgrades, pickup swaps & more.

This time is tailored to your personal project and is not a standard class offering with planned curriculum. Depending on the project, we may do a quick consultation in advance to confirm scope, parts, and make sure the mod is a good fit for a guided session.

We’ll walk through the entire setup process together: adjusting neck relief, setting action, dialing in intonation, and understanding how each adjustment affects feel and tone. You’ll also learn proper string changes, safe cleaning routines, and how to evaluate your guitar’s playability with accuracy and confidence.

Throughout the class, you’ll use real tools and measuring techniques used by professional luthiers. You’ll set up your own guitar step-by-step with guidance, so you leave not just knowing the theory but having done the work yourself so you can confidently perform your own setups at home.
